ISSUES THAT MATTER
Tasmania’s Salmon Industry
I firmly believe the salmon industry urgently needs greater oversight and stronger regulation. The jobs it provides are undeniably important, and that’s exactly why we must ensure the industry is sustainable—not just for the environment, but for the workers and communities who rely on it.
I’ll continue to call for tougher environmental standards and stricter controls. It’s short-sighted to think we can have one without the other. A well-regulated industry is not only better for our waterways, but also for the long-term future of salmon farming in Tasmania.
We can protect both jobs and the environment—but only if we’re willing to demand better
The Hobart Stadium Debate
I believe the proposed AFL stadium is financially irresponsible for Tasmania when our hospitals, schools, and housing crisis demand urgent attention. Read why I’m standing firm against this billion-dollar project that prioritises AFL demands over essential services for Tasmanians.
View ProgressDevelopment Assessment Panels (DAPs)
I’m standing against the government’s attempt to strip planning powers from local councils through Development Assessment Panels, which would silence community voices and fast-track projects for big developers. Learn why I believe planning decisions must remain with those who know our communities best.
View ProgressTasmania’s Integrity Commission
I’ve successfully pushed Parliament to strengthen Tasmania’s chronically underfunded Integrity Commission, which has operated with insufficient powers for too long. Read how I’m fighting for a truly independent watchdog that can hold those in power accountable to the Tasmanians they serve.

A word about Andrew
Andrew’s passion and experience in local government is an invaluable asset to state parliament. As Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, he had responsibility for 190,000 people. He understands the challenges of making decisions that affect many people’s lives. I can’t think of better training for the job of being a Lyons MP.
Andrew served as a magistrate for 25 years, proving his dependability and dedication to transparent decision making. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could say the same thing about our state parliament?

Latest Updates
I’ve consistently called on the government to strengthen the Integrity Commission and implement its recommendations, particularly around regulating pork-barrelling.
At election time, both major parties throw money around like it’s going out of fashion, using taxpayer funds to buy votes. It’s not just unethical. It is contributing to Tasmania’s growing debt crisis.
Something has to change. We need real reform and genuine accountability.
